August 27, 2022 7:30 PM   Doors Open: 6:30 PM

Low Bar Chorale: 1984      Mississippi Studios

LBC: 1984 a singalong extravaganza featuring 1984’s most transformative songs. Heralded by Rolling Stone as “Pop’s Greatest Year”, 1984 was that time when New Wave, R&B, hip-hop, rock, glam, soul, and indie pop came together to produce not only some of the greatest music ever, but music that created the music of the future. And you could see it all on MTV. Also, Madonna.
The show will feature our all-star band, with special guests TBA soon. We’ll also have a friendly music/pop culture trivia competition… and for the first time ever, a 1984 costume contest! We are living in a material world, after all.

Soul of Courage with Marilyn Keller
Gun reform, music, and the rhythm of relentlessness

By Kevin Teater
Tuesday, May 25, 2021
“I sing because I have to,” Marilyn Keller told me midway through our conversation.
“Singing is one of the ways that I feed my spirit. If I could not sing, I would be one very depressed, hopeless person. When I was a child, my family would tease me because I would burst into song at random occasions.”
Marilyn is an incredible vocalist. She’s been singing professionally for  40 years, resulting in her induction into the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame in 2016.

Augustana is a thriving,  multicultural, multi-national, welcoming and affirming, sanctuary, servant congregation, called by Christ to share the Good News of God’s love for all people. We are called by the Creator to work with our Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Native American and Christian sisters and brothers and many people of good will, to seek justice and peace in all the earth and to care for the creation for generations to come, as together we weave God’s Beloved Community.
